Access Control Systems
Access control systems have become very popular in the recent years as a way of controlling access to commercial buildings. These systems eliminate the need to give out keys to staff and, instead, access cards are provided which eliminates the cost of re-keying the building in the event of lost or stolen keys. The system is managed by computer so, if an access control card is lost, it is a simple procedure to remove that card from the system.
There are several different methods that can be used to specify or limit access to the facility by programming individual cards. The system can be programmed so that the card only works for certain days, hours or months which a key or a punch combination cannot give you. Reports can be generated which will provide valuable information regarding who is entering and exiting your building as well as which areas they are accessing while on site. If you have multiple sites the system can allow programming of cards to be used at any one or in combination with your other sites.
Access control can also be integrated into your alarm system which alleviates the need to give out an alarm code to a new employee. The access to the building and the disarming of the alarm system is assigned by user group rather than to an individual. However each card carries its own number which identifies the individual using the card.
Access control cards can be printed with the staff member’s picture and identification which accomplishes two tasks. One, it identifies your employees to the general public and, two, gives them access to the building according to certain criteria that has been determined by the employer.
